About Us

The Aviation Museum at Marietta, Georgia, projected to open in 2010, was established to help children and adults: Discover the wonders of flight from concept to reality. Explore the heritage of aviation. Dream about the future possibilities of science and technology. and Engage in life-long learning and critical thinking that promotes national excellence in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Preliminary plans for the 60,000 square foot museum include a theater, meeting rooms and classrooms, and indoor exhibit space large enough to display a C-5.

The Museum will be located on 15.5 acres at the corner of Atlanta Road and South Cobb Drive in close proximity to the entrances of Lockheed Martin, Naval Air Station and Dobbins Air Reserve Base. Thanks to assistance from Lockheed Martin, the Air Force has leased the property to Cobb County who has subleased it to the Aviation Museum. The term of the lease is fifty years with the option to renew.

Museum property is a mere 1.5 miles from the Marietta Square and only 25 minutes from downtown Atlanta. Located just three miles from I-75, the museum will be a drawing influence for tourism and economic development.
